I am totally flabbergasted at the behavior of the owner of Lenox Jerk, on W Mcnichols, in Detroit Mi , I order my food, he tells me it will be ready in 15 minutes, about 30 minutes pass, I hadn’t gotten a call, so I go in there and he tells me it will be 3 minutes, I’m like ok, I pay for my food the 3 minutes pass, I still don’t get my food, by this time, I express to him I want my money back because this didn’t make any sense to be disrespectful and you scratched in your head without gloves on and went to fix my food, then have the nerve to tell me that you don’t want bad money in your store , how dare you talk to a customer like that , and furthermore my money was good until you performed BAD service. My thing like I told him, you don’t promise a customer something and don’t do it, then treat them rude, that’s unacceptable , and totally inappropriate as well as using foul language on the phone, while customers are present in your place of business was very ghetto and ignorant. That was my first and last time ever stepping foot in there again.
My daughter picked up an oxtail dinner for me for $37. There were only 2 thin cut oxtails and a small piece of some other beef. The meat was under seasoned and the cabbage was horrible. The cabbage had green beans, carrots, and sweet peas in it. The best thing was the rice. The food use to be good, but this new cook is awful. The vegetables in the cabbage were under cooked, but the potatoes and carrots in the oxtail/ roast weren’t. This was a horrible oxtail soup. If you want something good, then order the rice.
Went tonight picked up an order been before and the food was amazing however today 3/4/26 the cabbage was something I’ve never seen before extremely overcooked, soggy and over seasoned. Tried to call to give my complaint but the phone line is out of order. When someone is spending their money their hard earned money it’s unfair. They could have just said it’s no cabbage today instead of serving anything.
Man listen I don’t leave bad reviews but I’m beyond livid I paid eighty dollars for what was supposed to been jerk salmon with cabbage for both sides and a Rasta pasta with cabbage for both sides. At this point they made whatever because I never asked for oxtails or rice and where is the rest of my order
I tried to like it but...I had jerk chicken in the bahamas, jamaica, and chicago. This is not that good. its ok. They use a ton of liquid smoke in there food. Yeah it's spicy but it's missing that Jamaican Jerk flavor. I'm going to go to Jamaica for awhile just to learn how to cook jerk chicken/recipes and come back to the D to open up my own store.
We really wanted to love this place. We placed our order at 4:20 pm did not leave until 5:45 pm. Over an hour waiting on two plates. I had the Ox Box Supreme which was $40 and added the chicken pasta for and additional $5.00. The meal came with two meats and two sides. First I’ll review the meat. Ox tails were fatty, undercooked, tough and inedible. They were cut thin I’m guessing he was doing the Jamaican ox tail cut I’ve had Ox cut this way before and on different Caribbean islands a none were as thinly cut as these. The Brown chicken was ok but had a sweet taste and too spicy to eat. The sides: The upgraded chicken pasta with different pasta mixed together and it was cold. The rice was hot because they ran out we were not made aware until we overheard them tell another customer they were making some more. It was over an hour before we received it. They kept telling people 15 minutes. The corn was ok. My husband had the Jerk salmon The salmon was good everything else was sweet. The service: The wife took our order she was nice initially but after waiting over an hour for our food and my husband asked how much longer she had an attitude and was making smart comments to other customers about being patient. Ox came out from the back and his excuse was he was going viral today and when my husband said ok but I’ve paid almost a hundred dollars for two plates his response was “you didn’t have too.” He’s correct he didn’t have too but we wanted to support this business and after this experience we will never spend another dime. My husband ordered two drinks before we left the wife placed them in the Turing food window and turned walked away. A they were the only two working. The atmosphere was ok unfortunately a lady waiting for her food standing outside their door smoking a blunt and the smoke was coming back into the restaurant each time someone walked in while us and other customers were waiting. When we finally got our food and left there was people still there waiting that was there before us.
✨Google Guide Review 🇯🇲: PRO TIP - when you see Jamaicans eating at a Jamaican restaurant, know the food is divine. Visited this restaurant for the second time as a Jamaican-American and all I can say is I left with a full belly, a smile, and pure vibes. I ordered Ackee and Saltfish, Calaloo, Roast Breadfruit, and Food (Boiled Banana, Boil Dumpling, and Boiled Yams). Everything was like I was back ah yaad. The plate was packed to perfection. The Ackee and Saltfish wasn’t over salted and both were balanced receiving a generous serving complete with Breadfruit. The Calaloo was perfectly seasoned pairing very well with the Food. Overall, I will be back for a third time to try other dishes.
Super friends service as you’d expect. I went on a Monday and the curry chicken feet was amazing, so tender fall of the bone. The jerk pork was just as tender sooo flavorful with the perfect kick of heat. There’s plenty of dining spaces in the back as well as a public restroom for customers a rarity in this area. Overall, very nice experience, will be back.
